Rochemaure castle
Perched high above the Rhône valley on its volcanic neck, Rochemaure castle has still not yielded all its secrets. It was probably built by the Adhémar family from Montélimar between the 11th and 12th centuries. The old village is well worth a visit and offers marvellous views over the river.
Castanea – Discover the world of sweet chestnut
Castanea tells in great detail the story of how for centuries, entire generations daily lives revolved around chestnut trees, both for work and for food. Find out more about this emblematic "bread tree". Castanea is located in a beautiful former convent in the medieval town of Joyeuse.
